How to make a color gradient on your values in Excel? This is what the color chart allows you to do in conditional formatting.
When to create a color gradient
Creating a color gradient is very suitable for tables that contain a large number of data with very small variations between each cell.
With each change in value, the hues of the cells will change to show the progress.

How to make a color gradient?
To use this conditional formatting option in your spreadsheets, you need:
- Select your data (preferably several rows and several columns).
- Go to menu Home > Conditional Formatting > Color Shades.
- Choose one of the color options provided.

Instantly, all cells in your document will appear a color gradient from lowest to highest. With this animation, if a few parameters are changed, all colors change immediately.

Recommendations
Applying a shade of color to your data is very pretty and makes your document stand out.
But this is only really interesting if your data follows each other in a coherent manner. If your data is inconsistent - as in the example below - applying a color chart is of no interest and may even disrupt your analysis.

At best in this case, you can choose a shade out of 3 colors with as central color the same background color as those of your cells (white in general).
